I scream … You Scream … We all scream for Frozen Yogurt on the 6th Day in February – National FROZEN YOGURT Day. Neither the founder nor the creative origin of this holiday has ever truly been established. We do know that lots of people love desserts but healthy desserts like ones that you can create at Menchies or another reputable froyo (frozen yogurts nickname) stores are great. Menchies like other froyo stores use healthier ingredients. Menchies in particular do not use high fructose syrup; their froyo has good nutrients like calcium, vitamin D, and probiotics and is lower in sugar, fat, and calories. It tastes delicious when it comes to Menchies BOGO froyo February 6. Count me in!
In the United States frogurt as it was called was started on the east coast in the 1970s as a healthier alternative to ice cream by a man named H. P. Hood. He introduced this soft-serve froyo which he called “Frogurt.” In the 1980s with a boom in the health craze people loved this treat which was substituted for other treats deemed better for you.
In the 1980s manufacturers started creating different froyo recipes by making multiple flavors and experimenting with different textures. The original taste and texture of soft-serve frozen yogurt of the 1970s and 1980s have not changed much over the years. Frozen yogurt is a frozen dessert made with cultured milk from mammals not only cows known as yogurt. Yogurt has been historically around for 5000 years. Interestingly it wasn’t until the 1970s that yogurt would be made into a treat which was in the form of frozen yogurt. The public started enjoying froyo by the masses in the 1970s and 1980s.
Ice cream company TCBY was conscious of the demand for a healthier product that could be made in a way that tasted similar to ice cream. In 1981 TCBY started its first yogurt store. TCBY launched its first store in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1981, by 1984 they had opened 100 locations. At the time TCBY was the largest frozen yogurt store in the country. Frozen yogurt became so popular that the frozen yogurt industry reached $25 million in sales by 1986.
Fast forward Menchies is on top. Other places to swirl your fro-yo may be good but there is a reason why Menchies wins with me. They have a gold standard of delivering quality frozen yogurt which other companies may not do as well and their product may even be comparable to eating regular ice cream Menchies doesn’t. I respect that and so that’s why I go there personally and recommend it as a former AFAA Fitness Instructor and Jillian Micheals Body Shred Instructor. I care about what I put in my family’s body and mine and want to also help you to make a better choice. Also you can load up your yogurt with fresh fruit for an even better treat.

Frozen yogurt has healthy benefits such as protein, calcium, potassium, and several vitamins. Frozen yogurt has properties in it that are good which help boost your immune system and support healthy digestion.
Keep in mind that frozen yogurt contains sugar in order for it to taste good. So when you swirl ask the smiling attendants at the fro-yo shop to weigh your portion. Keep your serving small and top the rest with delicious healthy fruit. That’s a healthy winning combo.
Hopefully, you’re thinking frozen yogurt is an excellent choice. Stop into your local frozen yogurt location on National Frozen Yogurt Day and enjoy a healthy treat or better yet perhaps try to make your own.
