This festival is celebrated on March 3. It’s also known as Hinamatsuri or Girls’ Day. Families display a set of ornamental dolls on tiered platforms covered with red carpet. These dolls represent the Emperor, Empress, and their court in traditional dress from the Heian period. Today people pray for the health and happiness of young girls.
