Opposite Day is a kid-friendly, likable, yet also unlikeable GAG (whoops it’s a palindrome) day! You can make it fUN or you could make it impossible. Use your creativity to come up with ideas to woefully love opposite, topsy-turvy, right and wrong day! January 25th is National oPPOSITe Day or is it? We’re a little confused.
To tell you the truth I spent all night trying to learn and tell you all about National oPPOSITe Day but in the end, I had to call it a day, or is that night? LOL! Truthfully it’s a day to not be exactly untruthful. It’s a day to explore your inner prankster. It’s a day when everyone can embrace a little humor and find some joy in doing things backward.
Instead of Buzz Lightyear saying “To Infinity and BEYOND!”, Woody could say “It’s LIMITED and right in front of your nose!”. Just remember Newton’s third law, “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. Maybe call in and tell work you’re not coming and then a minute later be right there ready to go! Practice writing with your non-dominant hand, while the writing might not be the best you strengthen the muscles in your hand and it’s good for coordination.
Not sure how to LOVE the day? We’ve got a few interesting ideas to consider that may help get you started.
Here are some activities that you can do on National oPPOSITe Day!
Learn different palindromes and teach children about them. STEP ON would be NO PETS.
Listen to Katy Perry’s song Hot N Cold. Eat breakfast for dinner & dinner for breakfast. Definitely wear your hat or cap backward. Refer to ladies as guys and guys as dudettes. For a greeting say “see ya” and then when leaving say “well, hi there”. Play a game of limbo but instead, see how high you can jump or make a giant step.
If you celebrate National oPPOSITe Day then that’s contrary to opposite. So it’ll be just a regular day …

Do we love it? Do we hate it? Well, that’s the question ain’t it? It could be fun and enjoyable to embrace opposites. However, beyond the silliness, it’s evident that opposites play a significant role in shaping our connections with others, our perception of the world, and our inner selves.
Delve deeper into learning about the relationship of opposites and you’ll find yourself a tad more philosophical. Think of it as practice for APRIL FOOL’s Day. In the meantime, play a kind practical joke to brighten someone’s day with a good laugh, and most of all SMILE instead of frowning 🙂
