This day is a nonpartisan civic holiday observed in the United States and varies from year to year when the organization sets it. It may be on the 3rd or 4th Tuesday in September. It began in 2012 to make sure that every eligible American has the opportunity to vote. On this day, thousands of organizations, volunteers, and businesses hold events and campaigns to help people register to vote or update their existing voter registration.
