Parkour athletes rejoice as free running enthusiasts jump through & over obstacles during the annual event.

๐Ÿคธโ€โ™‚๏ธ WE JUMP the WORLD Day ORIGIN & HISTORY

WE JUMP the WORLD Day is celebrated on the 29th Day in April.

We Jump the World Day is a day to appreciate the art of movement in Parkour to conquer obstacles. Some may deem it unnecessary to learn Parkour which is used to tackle such obstacles which seem to require a lot of running and jumping. Parkour is often referred to as free running. Learning some basic skills of Parkour can help you push past fears and develop a can-do attitude. It can be enjoyable, fun, and make you feel free.

We Jump The World Day is an annual Parkour event that is held on April 29th each year. It allows Parkour athletes to participate in lots of activities and time to rock out what they love. This is a day for people to appreciate Parkour and the community that has made it the awesome sport that it is.

Where did Parkour come from? Its origin dates back prior to World War 1. George Hebbert took his ideas from physical education. He developed movements he referred to as โ€œla methode naturelleโ€ These movements involved running, jumping, climbing, balancing, swimming, defending and moving from obstacle to obstacle. These are all important skills for physical wellness.

George Hebbert was a naval officer. He took his ideas of la methode naturelle from observing African tribal people. He visited Mount Pelee on a rescue mission and used this opportunity to learn and study the grace and agility in the movement of the area people. His trip there challenged him to have a perspective on the ways the body can move. From this, the origin he created would lead to becoming the foundation that was used to create Parkour.

Raymond Belle is the father of David Belle and is referred to as the father of Parkour. Raymond Belle studied the methods of Hebbert while in the military. He later used it to become an elite firefighter. Knowing Parkour makes you feel like a real-life superhero.

David Belle was inspired by his father and grandfatherโ€™s athleticism, gymnastics, and Parkour.ย  Growing up David practiced these skills and named the movements Parkour. He has studied, practiced, and taught Parkour and seeks to spread Parkour athletics to the world.

David Belle and his friends since 1990 have promoted Parkour training throughout the world. These athletes are called Yamakazi. David Belle and Sebastian Foucan are leading Parkour โ€“ Free Running athletes. Some athletes disagree on whether Parkour should be taught and used for competition and think it should be used to teach people how they can move physically. Foucan disagreed with Belle on teaching methodologies. Sebastian Foucan took freerunning to Britain and in 2016 Brittain was the first country to recognize Parkour as a sport.

Practice Parkour on WE JUMP the WORLD Day

On WE JUMP the WORLD Day check out some skills a parkour athlete needs. Alikona Bradford is a dancer, martial arts, plyometrics, breakdance, and parkour athlete. You can try this parkour-inspired workout at home featuring Alikona if youโ€™re clear to exercise medically. Please be safe and know your limitations.

If you like her workouts, Daily Burn has two high-intensity workout programs thatโ€™ll help get you parkour fit. Check out Black Fire developed by Bob Harper and Inferno taught by Anja Garcia. Alikona stars in both programs. Iโ€™ve tried both workouts and theyโ€™re lots of fun and very challenging. Great for increasing cardiovascular health, VO2 max training, and increasing strength. Theyโ€™re designed for people that are accustomed to advanced to intermediate physical exercise.

Prepare to Do Parkour TRAINING

Other programs moderately challenging to advanced and that also use parkour skills within the Daily Burn cosmos are PowerCardio, TBT, and CardioSculpt. You can do these programs with low-impact modifiers and are more joint-friendly. These are less challenging workouts but will prepare you to conquer harder parkour-type training methods used in Black Fire or Inferno above. My family has crushed all three programs which are also super fantastic! In the meantime take time to enjoy watching elite parkour female athletes. Thereโ€™s also a growing trend in fitness facilities that teach parkour. After using caution in learning parkour โ€ฆ what are you waiting for?
