πŸ₯— World OBESITY Day ORIGIN & HISTORY

World OBESITY Day is celebrated on the 4th Day in March. The first World OBESITY day began in 2015. It was started by the World Obesity Organization. Each year they hope to increase awareness, encourage advocacy, improve policies, and share experiences. Every year they hope to encourage people to strive to have a healthy weight and teach people about the risks that are involved with the disease.

As an organization, they want to encourage people to not be excessively overweight or obese because of the dangers that are associated with it. It’s important to teach through careful mindful positivity and as a community that does not stigmatize or shame people for being overweight or obese. They have their struggles and need support.Β  People have misconceptions about obesity. As a world organization, they share healthy goals for everyone. People that work together to combat obesity can share stories and encourage one another to have a healthy weight goal. The struggle is often difficult but working together as a community can bring so much good. One important goal in combating obesity is to help fight many medical conditions.

Obesity Day was established in 2015 as an annual campaign with the goal of stimulating and supporting practical actions that will help people achieve and maintain a healthy weight and reverse the global obesity crisis.

Each year the world obesity organization has a specific set of goals and an agenda to help people to have a healthy weight or work towards losing weight especially if they are excessively overweight or obese. The World Obesity theme of 2024 is β€œLet’s talk about Obesity And…”. The initiative for 2024 is an open-ended theme emphasizing the complexity of obesity and the need for a comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to overweight and obesity. It encourages dialogue, collaboration, and collective action to address this global health issue.
