🎿 🏂 ❄️ 🛷
This global event takes place on the third Sunday in January each year. Launched in 2012 by the International Ski Federation, it aims to encourage people to get outdoors, embrace winter weather, and explore the world of winter sports. Ski resorts, communities, and outdoor clubs around the globe celebrate by hosting snow-themed festivals, sledding races, and ice skating parties.
While it’s a fantastic excuse to hit the slopes or build a snowman, the day also focuses on winter sports safety and environmental education. It highlights the importance of preserving snowy ecosystems – which have seen a noticeable decline due to changing global climates – so future generations can continue to enjoy the magic of a fresh snowfall.
