Where did this amazing combo come from? No one really knows how this got started, but we do know that National CREAM CHEESE BROWNIE Day is celebrated on the 10th Day in February. Brownies of the bygone era and today

In Chicago

Most sources report that brownies were first made in Chicago, Illinois at what is now known as The Palmer House (a Hilton hotel). Bertha Palmer, a philanthropist and socialite was credited with coming up with the first brownie recipe and it was and is still served at the Palmer House in Chicago. They also served at the Columbian Exposition of the 1893 World’s Fair.

In Chicago, you can get perhaps the best-tasting brownies at Sweet Mandy B’s. The owners Mandy and Brian create some of the best-tasting desserts in Chicago. The love of their concoctions shows in every bite of heavenly deliciousness including brownies which come in different flavors.

In Boston

At that time a less chocolatey version of a brownie of what we are familiar with today was being made at Boston Cooking School in Massachusetts. They wrote the Cooking School Cookbook.

America’s Test Kitchen is from Boston and offers great ways to teach people including kids to cook and bake. The Complete Baking Book for Young Chefs by ATK teaches how to make delicious cheesecake bars and rich fudgy brownies in their book from scratch. New York

Chicago and Boston are known for excellent food and desserts. Like a lot of great things, cheesecake brownies are said to have originated in New York. The New York Times in 1897 had the first recorded information on cream cheese brownies. It was a basic recipe that had only four ingredients: chocolate, butter, sugar, and cream cheese.
