Remember back when you were in elementary school? Remember your school chums on the playground? Remember those one or two special teachers you had? You might even be in elementary primary grades right now. Let’s face it; there are a lot of school teachers out there. Some do their job, others skate by while doing or not doing the bare minimum.
My own sister, Daphne, is a Kindergarten team lead and former Teacher of the Year. Occasionally you come by one like her who is kind, warm, passionate, and extraordinarily gifted in her work. It’s these rare gems that just have a knack for conveying what the kiddieroos need and somehow getting them to cooperate, recite, and put into practice what they’ve learned.
Oftentimes these exceptional teachers stay late to complete lesson plans or to work with deficient children. Many are team leads within their assigned grades.

What’s an elementary school teacher’s job like?
- Formerly grade school or primary school educators specialize in basic academic skills and socialization integration. They teach the fundamentals by helping children establish a foundation that will assist them throughout their lives. Many have bachelor’s or master’s degrees in Early Childhood & Elementary education.

- Most generally have to manage classrooms of 20-30 students from diverse backgrounds. Elementary school comprises of pre-K or Kindergarten through 5th grade with kids ranging from age 4 or so to 11. I actually was the last of my kind whereby I attended elementary from K-7 and then went to high school from grades 8-12.
What are the standards of elementary grade education?
- There was a movement just before the turn of the new millennium that emphasized standards testing in the United States. Proponents argued that academic success was best measured through established standardized parameters. Ultimately many did not think it was the best path to go forward, nevertheless President George W Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act in 2001 which featured the standards campaign.
