Milne wasn’t a children’s author despite being known for Pooh. He wrote plays, poetry, and even detective novels! He considered the Pooh books a side project and disliked being typecast while not able to match his earlier success.
Today the original toys that belonged to Christopher Robin (and inspired Milne), including Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, and Tigger, are on display at the New York Public Library. Only Roo was lost in the 1930s.
